Description: Survivor Barrel Chenin Blanc 2022 is a dry white wine obtained from the Chenin blanc grape variety 100%.
10% of Chenin blanc is fermented in stainless steel tanks. After inoculation, the fermentation temperature was maintained at about 12°C for 3 weeks. 90% of the Chenin blanc underwent barrel fermentation in casks from 30% of the first 500L bottling of unroasted Sylvain French oak. The second and third filling of the barrel remained. Laffort X5 yeast was used. The barrels were rolled once a day after fermentation and then once a month for four months. The wine matured in barrel for four months before blending and bottling. Selected blocks of low-yielding vineyards located on one Svartland farm. The soils are dark red Oakleaf and Hutton whose water holding capacity helps to add structure and fullness to the wines. The vines benefit from the cooling sea breeze from the Benguela Current.
